Temporary Resident Visa

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) allows foreign nationals to enter Canada for a limited period for purposes such as tourism, business, or visiting family. It is a key entry document for those who are not visa-exempt and must be approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) before travel.

Who Needs a TRV or Visitor Document?

  • Citizens of countries not exempt from visa requirements.

  • Individuals traveling for tourism, business, family visits, or as long-term visitors under Super Visa.

  • Travelers who do not qualify for an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A valid passport or travel document.

  • Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of stay.

  • Strong ties to their home country to ensure return after visiting Canada.

  • No criminal record and good health (medical exams may be required for longer stays).

  • Intent to leave Canada at the end of their authorized stay.

Super Visa

The Super Visa is a long-term visa designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

  • Valid for up to 10 years and allows stays of up to 2 years per visit.

  • Requires proof of private medical insurance, sufficient funds, and a letter of invitation from the Canadian child or grandchild.

  • Provides a faster and more flexible way for families to reunite in Canada

Extend your stay in Canada as a Visitor

A Visitor Record is not a visa but an extension document allowing visitors to stay longer in Canada beyond the initial TRV or eTA period.

  • It is typically issued to tourists, students, or workers who need more time in Canada.

  • Grants legal status in Canada and outlines the new authorized duration of stay.
